PRIVACY STATEMENT

Rightsdesk takes your right to privacy very seriously. We process as little personal data as necessary to maintain the Service, as defined in our Terms of Service. However, Rightsdesk needs to store and process some personal data to maintain the use of the Service and to deliver, improve and secure its Service.

By using Rightsdesk you agree to have read and understood this Privacy Statement and the Terms of Service.

 

A. Our use of your personal data

  1. Rightsdesk processes your personal data for the following purposes:
    1. to maintain and operate the Service and the website;
    2. to provide technical support on request;
    3. to follow up on reports of abuse and fraud investigations;
    4. to defend Rightsdesk and to cooperate with law enforcement in legal proceedings in relation to or as a result of your use of Rightsdesk, following a court order, abiding by any law, regulation or governmental request.
    5. to evaluate the use of the Rightsdesk website and Service and for statistical purposes. Rightsdesk will only use the data for statistical purposes after making them anonymous or pseudonymous.
    6. to promote and market information provided by you to other users of Rightsdesk and only if you chose to use those parts of the Service that will make the information stored by you on Rightsdesk visible to the public or to registered users. Those parts of the Service are, for example, the use of Channels, Catalog, and APIs that connect the data stored by you on Rightsdesk with external websites.
    7. to create and uphold your personal account, facilitate payment of your subscription fee and informing you about new features and updates;
    8. to facilitate your network of contacts;
    9. to enable you to interact with other users of Rightsdesk.
  2. Rightsdesk does not sell or otherwise distribute your personal data to third parties. We will not use your personal data for any other purposes than those stated above without your prior consent.

B. Your personal data on Rightsdesk

  1. The public section of Rightsdesk:
    1. Rightsdesk maintains a public section of its website that is accessible to unregistered visitors. Subscribing vendors using Rightsdesk's Service may chose to display information in the catalog on this public section. Information that you as a vendor indicate to be shown on the public page is visible to unregistered visitors. However, the information shown on the public page displays no personal data or user identity.
  2. The restricted section of Rightsdesk:
    1. Rightsdesk provides its regular Service on the restricted section. To access Rightsdesk's regular service and the restricted section you have to sign up for an account and provide some personal data to Rightsdesk. We register you in accordance with our Terms of Service.
  3. When using the Rightsdesk service as a subscriber to a paid plan (buyer or vendor), Rightsdesk processes the following personal data:
    1. your IP-address;
    2. your email address;
    3. your display name, first and last names, your company's name, your profile text written by you, your choice of system settings (language, notification)
    4. your contents provided by you to Rightsdesk to be stored, displayed, shared and processed by Rightsdesk, such as title information, rights information, leads, and submission details;
    5. your address book;
    6. your notes, comments and your messages sent and received by you via the Rightsdesk messaging service to interact with other users of the Rightsdesk Service;
    7. your preferred payment method, but not your payment data such as your credit card. Our payment intermediary will ask you to provide such payment data - Rightsdesk does not process your payment data and details;
    8. email addresses of contacts you invite via Rightsdesk to use the Service;
    9. file names, sizes and types of documents stored on Rightsdesk by you;
    10. your browser type and version; your operating system.
  4. When using the Rightsdesk service as a subscriber to a free plan (Editor's Single Plan), Rightsdesk processes the following personal data:
    1. your IP-address;
    2. your email address;
    3. your display name, first and last names, your company's name, your profile text written by you, your choice of system settings (language, notification)
    4. your address book;
    5. your notes, comments and your messages sent and received by you via the Rightsdesk messaging service to interact with other users of the Rightsdesk Service;
    6. email addresses of contacts you invite via Rightsdesk to use the Service;
    7. your browser type and version; your operating system.

C. Cookies

  1. Rightsdesk places cookies on your computer for the purpose of facilitating your easier use of the Service. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer by your browser when you visit a website, such as your language preferences, login information, email addresses and your acceptance of the Terms of Service and Privacy Statement & Cookie Policy.
  2. Rightsdesk can place these cookies for the following purposes:
    1. to provide functionalities when using the Service, such as preferences set by you;
    2. to optimize our service by analyzing your use of our website.
  3. Rightsdesk may use Piwik, a web analytics open-source software. Piwik uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address anonymized prior to its storage) will be stored on the server of the service provider in Germany. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

D. Security & Third Parties

  1. Rightsdesk takes the security of your data and our infrastructure very seriously. We are committed to providing a safe environment and we take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against loss or forms of unlawful processing.
  2. The personal data of Rightsdesk users residing in the EU, stay in Germay. If you use our service from somewhere outside the EU, your data may be stored in the US.
  3. While Rightsdesk owns and controls its software, it doesn't own the cloud. To maintain its Service, Rightsdesk has to cooperate with several external third parties. We make sure your personal data will be handled with the same care, security and integrity as we do.
  4. We make sure your personal data will be stored on secure servers located in Germany.
  5. We currently work with the following third party services and we recommend that you review the information on their websites about data security and privacy:
    1. Digital Ocean, LLC  (for data storage on servers located in Frankfurt, Germany)
    2. Stripe, Inc. (for payment services)

E. Revisions and updates to the Privacy Statement, Data Security & Cookie Policy

  1. Rightsdesk may revise this Privacy Statement, Data Security & Cookie Policy from time to time. We recommend that you review this page from time to time and take note of any changes. This is the current version. By using the Service provided by Rightsdesk you accept that this version replaces and supersedes all earlier versions.
