John Chu is a "sherpa," a freelance guide to online role-playing games like the popular Call to Wizardry, who provides his wealthy customers with ready-made characters, teammates, and expert advice. Chu suspects that his newest client, the pseudonymous Mr. Jones, may actually be North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, looking to harness the power of virtual reality for political ends. As Chu tries to confirm Jones's identity, his online adventures begin crossing over into the real world, and he finds himself playing cat-and-mouse with spies, gangsters, and his vengeful ex-girlfriend, Darla, who may be the biggest threat of all.

HBO's series adaptation of LOVECRAFT COUNTRY will run in Spring 2020, produced by Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams/Bad Robot, with Misha Green as showrunner, and starring Courtney B. Vance, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Jonathan Majors, and Elizabeth Debicki.
