A BED OF SCORPIONS

Judith Flanders

What’s an editor to do? There are always so many demands on her time. Does she deal first with the mounting pile of manuscript submissions? Or concentrate on the swine from sales who steals all the chocolate digestives? Or on her ex-lover, whose business partner has just been found dead in their art gallery, slumped over his desk with a gun in his hand?
It’s just another day at Timmins & Ross publishing house, until sharp-tongued editor Samantha Clair’s CID boyfriend is brought in to investigate Frank Compton’s death, and her loyalties become stretched. When one of Aidan Merriam’s artists is found dead in identical circumstances, Sam is forced to take on both the art world and the CID, armed with nothing more than her reliable weapons: satire, wild exaggeration and a stack of irrelevant information culled from novels.

Judith Flanders was born in London, but spent her childhood in Canada. Judith worked as an editor for various publishing houses before turning to writing, publishing her first book A Circle of Sisters in 2001 to great acclaim. Judith lives in Hampstead.
