A FRIEND/ A PET

Cleo is a bright, imaginative five year-old. She is an only child and her best friend is Nick. In all of the Cleo stories, life throws up a dilemma for Cleo and her family to solve, and resolution comes from a creative, child-focused solution.

Story 1: The Friend Cleo’s friend Nick is sick (and contagious) so Cleo is doesn’t have her best mate to play with. Mum and Dad make lots of suggestions but Cleo doesn’t like any of them, and stays lonely. Eventually, she discovers a new friend... Story 2: The Pet Cleo plays with her best friend Nick and his dog. She wants a pet of her own but will Mum and Dad be happy about the colony of snails in a shoe box under her bed? Libby Gleeson and Kate Greenaway Award-winning Freya Blackwood have collaborated on a number of much-loved and award-winning picture books, including Amy and Louis and Clancy and Millie and the Very Fine House.
