Based on law professor Adam Benforado's understanding of international law and the history of children's rights in the United States, he makes a well-reasoned, empathetic, and timely argument for the prioritization of the rights of children.

In a broad survey from the justice system, to food and housing access, to systemic racism, Benforado uses individual stories to illustrate the urgency of these issues and the human cost of inaction. He argues that, since children are our future, the root of nearly every issue we face today can be traced back to our mistreatment of children, but also that, having reckoned with that truth, we can effectively change our fate.
