A PRINCE AND A SPY
In August 1942 at the height of World War II, the King of England's brother dies in a mysterious plane crash in the far north of Scotland. Surprisingly little is made of the event, but there are troubling questions.
Tom Wilde, a Cambridge history professor and senior member of America's new OSS spy bureau in London, is sent north to investigate on behalf of President Roosevelt, friend to the prince and godfather to his new-born son.
What Wilde discovers is a conspiracy that will shake the world.
As he travels the length of the country in a quest for the truth, he realises he is up against powerful forces that will murder and murder again to keep their secrets.
Why had Prince George, the Duke of Kent, travelled to neutral Sweden on his fateful last flight? What were the implications of his covert meeting with his close cousin Prince Philipp von Hessen, one of Hitler's most favoured aides. Was the crash of flying boat 4026 an accident caused by pilot error - or sabotage by hidden enemies?
And who exactly is Harriet Hartwell, the secret extra' passenger aboard the flying boat, and one of only two survivors?
As he confronts both the Gestapo and the Allies' own secret services, Wilde has no way of knowing who to trust.
His terrifying journey takes him from Cambridge to the moors of Scotland, and from blitz-ravaged London to a snake-infested island in the Stockholm archipelago.
Somehow he must find a safe haven for a turncoat' Nazi with devastating information that will change the course of history - if only it can be communicated to Winston Churchill.
