Carl Safina is the first Endowed Professor for Nature and Humanity at Stony Brook University and founding president of the not-for-profit Safina Center. He is the recipient of a MacArthur "genius" grant and Pew, Guggenheim, and National Science Foundation fellowships. He has written for the New York Times, Time, Guardian, and National Geographic. He lives on Long Island, New York.
