ALL THE WAYS THE WORLD CAN END

Lenny is preparing for the apocalypse. Every night, she researches vacuum decay, designer pathogens, that inexplicable sleeping sickness knocking people out in Kazakhstan. Not many sixteen-year-olds are this consumed with the end of the world.

But Lenny needs to have some sense of control. Her dad is dying of cancer. Her best friend is graduating early and moving three states away. She just got cast in her high school’s all-female production of Glengarry Glen Ross and is having constant nightmares about real estate closings. And every time she touches her father’s skin, she has to wash her hands and repeat You’re okay. I’m okay – twenty-five times.

Lenny definitely struggles with OCD. The one thing keeping her hopeful is Dr. Zakaria Niss. Lenny is convinced that if she seduces Dr. Niss, he will fall in love with her and save her father. In the end, Lenny will have to say good-bye to Julian, to her father, and to Dr. Niss. Most importantly, to the idea that she can save the world. She has to throw away her bunker blueprints, and learn what it means to survive.
