AT HEAVEN'S DOOR

Michael Kinsella William Peters

A look at the latest research into shared death experiences by one of the foremost researchers into extraordinary and seemingly inexplicable occurrences at the end of life.
For thousands of years, people near death have reported near-death experiences, having vivid visions, seeing a benevolent light, or glimpsing deceased love ones. But end-of-life phenomena experienced by others who are not dying, where a person is able to see or sense the departure of a loved one, is a newly studied phenomenon. Using over twelve hundred accounts of end-of-life experiences, the book offers the first in-depth portrait of shared-death experiences.

The authors explore how, where, and when these experiences manifest, their most common features, who is more likely to have these experiences, and whether and how we can help prepare people to have SDEs. This book will bring this poorly understood end-of-life phenomenon into full view. The authors' goal is to share these compelling experiences with the reader to introduce new thinking about "the best death possible," and what we can do to help achieve this goal for ourselves and our loved ones.

For readers of such authors as Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and Eben Alexander, At Heaven's Door will transform how we think of the last stages of life.

William Peters, is the Founder and Director of the Shared Crossing Project whose mission is to raise awareness and educate people about the profound and healing experiences that are possible for the dying and their loved ones. Peters and his research team collect and study extraordinary end-of-life experiences (shared crossings) and he is recognized by many as the world's leading authority on the shared-death experience (SDEs) having developed the first research-based typologies that classify the full range of SDEs. Michael Kinsella is the Chief Researcher of the Shared Crossing Research Initiative.
