BEAUTY AND THE BOUNTY HUNTER

Lori Austin

Cathleen Chase is no killer—but as Cat O’Banyon, she is a ruthless bounty hunter who always gets her man. Catching one lowlife after another, she continues her search for the only man she really cares to locate: the one whose voice she will never forget; the man who murdered her husband. She'll stop at nothing to find him.
Con artist Alexi Romanov taught Cat every trick she knows. He is a master of deceit, of disguise and of desire. He’s difficult to trust, and even more difficult to resist, but he has news she can’t ignore. The man she’s after has placed a bounty on her head. To get him before he gets her, she’ll have to team up with Alexi again… And just like before, the two of them together are nothing but trouble.

Lori Austin is the pseudonym of two-time RITA Award–winning romance author Lori Handeland. She sold her first novel in 1993 and has written many since. Lori lives in southern Wisconsin with her husband, enjoying occasional visits from her two grown sons.

Austin's worthy debut blazes a diverting trail of sagebrush, guns, and romance. Bounty hunter Cat O'Banyon, aka Cathleen Chase, always gets her man. Even when said man isn't Mr. Right--as in the man who killed her husband--she turns him in for the cash and keeps on looking. The only man this willful beauty really yearns for is the faceless stranger who destroyed her idyllic life, or so she says until con man Alexi Romanov appears with the promise to help her find the man who has put a price on her head. It's a tempting offer, but Cat prefers to keep her quest uncomplicated by the steamy history she shares with Alexi. She tries to shake him but eventually succumbs to their shared passion, also coming to rely on the bounty-hunting help of his oversized sidekick, Mikhail, as they scam and shoot their way across 1870 Kansas. It's a fine yarn played out against the colorful hills and dusty trails of the old west.
