Benjamin Netanyahu

My Story

No modern Jewish political leader has had as much influence or as prominent a seat at the table for as many seminal events in world history as Bibi.
He emerged in the public eye in 1978, during a televised debate in Boston about Palestinian statehood. He has remained there ever since, through the fall of the Soviet Union, the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, both Iraq wars, the Iran nuclear deal, decades of U.S. Presidential administrations, and so much more.

There are news-making stories in this book, including behind-the-scenes details of Netanyahu's tug-of-war negotiations with President Obama over peace deals and the Iran nuclear deal, and with President Trump over the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, and the Abraham Accords. Israel will be holding new elections for prime minister and Netanyahu is currently running for the post again.

Benjamin Netanyahu was Prime Minister of Israel from 19961999 and 2009-2021. From 19671972 he served as a soldier and commander in Sayeret Matkal, an elite special forces unit of the Israeli Defense Forces. A graduate of MIT, he served as Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations from 19841988, before being elected to the Israeli parliament as a member of the Likud party in 1988. He has published five previous books on terrorism and Israel's quest for peace and security. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife, Sara.

For his admirers and critics alike, he has produced a compelling memoir and an intriguing study of power.

Netanyahu wrote his memoir longhand. It is not the standard campaign autobiography. It has heft, and not just because it runs to 650 pages. Primed for debate, he conveys his point of view with plenty of notes. He paints in primary colors, not pastels. The canvas is filled with adulation, anger, frustration and dish. Bibi is substantive and barbed. It is interesting. Netanyahu has scores to settle and punches to land.
