BLOOD SYMMETRY

Kate Rhodes

Fifth in the Alice Quentin crime series and Mulholland think this is her Breakout Novel
Hospital consultant Clare Riordan is abducted while running on Clapham Common, the incident witnessed by her ten-year-old son Mikey, who is rendered mute by trauma. Forensic psychologist Alice Quentin must help him to speak again, working alongside DCI Don Burns. Soon samples of Clare Riordan's blood are found at London locations connected with the history of blood transfusion. When more consultants are killed, the police realise that the killers are seeking vengeance for the Tainted Blood scandal of the Eighties, which was hushed up by the government, yet killed thousands of patients. Only Mikey can lead the police to the killers, but soon he is abducted too, and Alice must use all of her psychological insight to find him.

Kate Rhodes is a prize winning poet and author of the critically acclaimed Alice Quentin crime series. Her debut novel CROSSBONES YARD was selected by Val McDermid as a new blood crime selection in 2012. In 2014 Kate won the Ruth Rendell short story prize.

Her crime series is set in London and features forensic psychologist Alice Quentin, whom Woman and Home has hailed as ‘a terrific new heroine on the block.' Kate grew up in London and her passion for the city's history, architecture and murky secrets is the uniting theme behind her novels.
