CHUPACABRA

Crash McCreery Adam Rubin

A whimsical, bilingual re-telling of the Mexican chupacabra folktale by the New York Times bestselling author of Dragons Love Tacos.
A long time ago in Mexico, a little girl named Rosa lived on a farm with her father, Hector. One night, a goat disappeared from the farm and turned up flat as a pancake. Only one creature could do that--Chupacabra, the goatsucker! Legend has it that Chupacabra is a fearsome beast, but you can't believe everything you hear...

Told in equal parts English and Spanish, and cinematically illustrated by acclaimed Hollywood creature creator Crash McCreery, this quirky take on a traditional Mexican legend is a must-have for bilingual bookshelves and parents introducing children to a second language.

The chupacabra is as legendary a figure as Big Foot or Sasquatch, but it is not nearly as well represented in pop culture. Author Adam Rubin wanted to change this and made his version of the chupacabra more kid-friendly and accessible--a tiny, bowtie-wearing gentleman, who eats churros dipped in chocolate.
Illustrator Crash McCreery has designed characters for Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, Ghost Busters and other major movies and franchises. He brings his cinematic expertise to bear in his illustrations.

Adam Rubin is the New York Times best-selling author of a half dozen critically acclaimed picture books including Robo-Sauce and Dragons Love Tacos. He spent ten years working as a creative director in the advertising industry before leaving his day job to write full-time. Adam has a keen interest in improv comedy, camping, and magic tricks. McCreery's vibrantly detailed illustrations, from sneezing goats to a bicycle-riding el chupacabras, inject wonderfully outrageous physical humor into Rubin's rip-roaring retelling.

An intriguing title that firmly establishes a modern Latin American legend into the cryptid canon. Highly recommended.
