CLAYTON STONE, AT YOUR SERVICE
Twelve-year-old Clayton is a mediocre student but a star on the lacrosse field. Between team practice every day after school, math homework, hanging out with his best friend Toby, and helping out at his grandmother's diner, he figures he has enough on his plate. He certainly doesn't have time to think about girls (gross) or run for student council with that annoying Laci Peters. But when a kidnapper starts taking people from the local mall, including a senator's wife and daughter, Clayton's life is hijacked into the family business his grandmother has worked hard to keep him out of: the secret agent business.
Clayton's up for it. The Special Service outfits him with cool gadgets and elaborate disguises from their secret underground headquarters below the diner. But then the stark reality of being a spy presses against Clayton's neck in the form of a gun's cool muzzle. Although Clayton is confident with a lacrosse stick or an X-Box controller, putting his life on the line is something else. And as the mystery of finding and catching the kidnapper escalates, it begins to mean even more than risking his life. It means lying to his best friend, putting the lacrosse season in jeopardy, liking the girl he hates, and then risking his life again. But what choice does he have when working undercover means saving the good guys?
Followed by sequel Clayton Stone, Facing Off (July 2016).
