COPPER MAGIC

If anyone needs magic it's 12-year-old Violet Blake. Her mother and adored baby brother are gone, perhaps never to return. Violet's morose, heartbroken father can't seem to sustain the failing farm on the outskirts of a fading town. When Violet unearths an ancient talisman by the stream where her mother used to harvest medicine, the copper hand immediately makes its power known. It reveals glimpses of another time when holy women appeased the water beings and pilgrims took copper trade routes to sacred cities and observatories built of earth and stone. But Violet's attempts to control the copper's power only jeopardize herself, her father, and a new friendship that made life sunnier for a while.
