DIAL A FOR AUNTIES

Jesse Sutanto

This debut adult novel is Crazy Rich Asians meets Heartbreakers with a splash of Jane the Virgin - smart and swoony and delightfully quirky, equal parts murder rom com and a celebration of mothers and daughters and the women we hold most dear.
1 (accidental) murder
2 thousand wedding guests
3 (maybe) cursed generations
4 meddling Asian aunties to the rescue!

When Meddelin "Meddy" Chan ends up accidentally killing her blind date, her meddlesome mother calls for her even more meddlesome aunties to help get rid of the body. Unfortunately, dead bodies prove to be a lot more challenging to dispose of than one might anticipate. Especially when they accidentally get shipped in a cake cooler to the over-the-top billionaire wedding Meddy and her Ma and aunties are working at a grand island resort on the California coastline. It's the biggest job yet for their family wedding business - Don't leave your big day to chance, leave it to the Chans! - and nothing, not even an unsavory corpse, will get in the way of her auntie's perfect buttercream (not fondant!) cake flowers.

But things go from inconvenient to downright torturous when Meddy's great college love - and biggest heartbreak - makes a surprise appearance amid the wedding chaos. Is it possible to escape murder charges, charm her ex back into her life, and pull off a stunning wedding, all in one weekend?

Dial A for Aunties is raucous and colorful and always surprising, an absurdist and heartfelt ride through one woman's journey to define herself - both with and apart from the women who have raised her, the women who would sacrifice anything for her happiness.

Jesse is a fresh new voice, and a prolific, ambitious, true career author, with talent that spans across different readerships. Dial A for Aunties is her debut adult novel, and she's currently planning out her next one - with the possibility of a companion story. Jesse also writes and will soon be published in the middle grade and young adult space. Her talent is vast!
