DISTÒCIA

Pilar Codony

Its style is raw, but neither too cruel nor too idealised to what one would expect life in a rural area would be. You have to be tough, but the right amount.
This is the story of love between two cows. The story of complicated births, of painful motherhoods. It's the story of Goja, who has an anguish trapped inside of her and is full of worries. And of Isabel, who feels caught in a rural world that is nothing like what she imagined. It's the story of Lamine and Montse and of two brothers who make cheeses. And it's also the story of the swallows that come back year after year, of the silly sheep that wants to play and a cat that knows how to hide. And of a calf, and a German Shepherd and a rooster that picks locks. It's a story of hard decisions. And of unexpected connections. Pilar Codony (Banyoles, 1987) is a veterinarian. She received her degree in 2011 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona after staying several months on a farm for milk cows in Cuba and a period in the United States where she worked in a center for wild animals. After a period in Vallès working off jobs, she returned to Pla de l'Estany. She now works with farm animals, particularly cattle.
