ESTUVE AQUÍ Y ME ACORDÉ DE NOSOTROS

Anna Pacheco

Una historia sobre turismo, trabajo y clase

A story of tourism, work and class.
Tourism has changed the face of many cities. It may have been an economic engine, but it has generated unwanted effects and is now unsustainable. This book explores the contradiction between the luxury that high-end hotels sell to their clients and the reality of those who work in them. The result, halfway between anthropological fieldwork, chronicle and essay, shows the most uncomfortable side of tourism and reflects on resting in a post-capitalist future. Anna Pacheco (Barcelona, 1991) is a journalist and a writer known for her immersive articles in narrative journalism published in media outlets such as VICE, Playground, El Periódico or Público. She focuses on social issues, feminisms and popular culture with a social and gender perspective. She currently works as a freelance journalist and co-directs the Primavera Sound Radio podcast, a monthly radio program focused on pop culture and internet issues from a millennial perspective. She also teaches feminist verbal self-defense in workshops. Her most recent work, after her long-awaited debut in fiction, the novel Listas, guapas, limpias (PRH / Caballo de Troya, 2019), is the essay Estuve aquí y me acordé de nosotros (Anagrama, 2024).
