A MEMOIR OF SURVIVAL IN CLEVELAND
Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus are two of the three women kidnapped and held captive for ten years by Ariel Castro in Cleveland. This is their incredible story of human endurance.
Narrated by two of the victims, this book is destined to become a major classic in the true crime genre. It will explore the resourcefulness, fortitude, courage and relationships of all three captives, the psychology of the captor, and the chilling phenomenon of kidnapping and incarceration.
This phenomenon is disturbingly prevalent all around the world, notably in the Josef Fritzl and Natasha Kampusch cases -- and more recently in that of the women held captive for 30 years in London.
The book, which has yet to be titled, will be written with Washington Post journalists Mary Jordan and Kevin Sullivan, Pulitzer Prize winning journalists for the Washington Post who have written extensively about difficulties facing women around the world. Jordan is a writer and editor as well as head of content for Washington Post Live. She and Sullivan, a senior correspondent at the Post, are married and live in Washington D.C. with their two children.
World rights were acquired from Robert Barnett of Williams & Connolly LLP.
Viking plans to publish in 2015.
