KINGDOM OF LIES
Unnerving Adventures in the World of Cybercrime
A colorful, character-driven narrative, KINDOM OF LIES takes an authoritative, behind-the-scenes look at the interconnected cultures of hackers, security specialists, and law enforcement personnel.
Cybercrime is a universal concern. Yet very few of us understand the severity of the situation, and even fewer know anything about the people behind these attacks. Who are these hackers? Where do they live? Who do they target? How are they caught and held accountable for their crimes? How do they escape justice?
A colorful, character-driven narrative, KINDOM OF LIES takes an authoritative, behind-the-scenes look at the interconnected cultures of hackers, security specialists, and law enforcement personnel. This is a book about people - the individuals who inhabit these worlds are pushing forward into a murky future with high stakes. In the tradition of Barbarians at the Gates, KINDOM OF LIES highlights journalist and expert Kate Fazzini's eye for detail and atmosphere. You will remember these characters and worlds as cybercrime dominates the national conversation more and more in the near future.
Kate Fazzini is a cybersecurity expert and Wall Street Journal writer. She is launching the Journal's new "Pro Cybersecurity" section soon and will continue to be the paper's undisputed authority on the subject. She is professor of cybersecurity at the University of Maryland, and will be taking on a similar role within the Cyber Intelligence program at Georgetown University next year. After earning her master's degree in cybersecurity, she worked in security operations at some of the world's largest companies, then continued as a consultant at even more.
