LA INTRUSA
With sharp irony and a fresh, original prose full of humor, Pujadas contrasts half-transcendental, half-therapeutic expectations with a reality that is both absurd and barren, offering a unique take on autobiographical literature.
Encouraged by the opinions of friends and family - and driven by the desire to fix a certain physical blur that hints at deeper internal inconsistencies - Diana embarks on a journey into her own inner world. Why not? Tighten a few loose screws, repair the faulty mechanisms, and emerge refreshed, renewed, and polished.
But far from being an easy trip, her odyssey leads her through unexpected landscapes and encounters with the most improbable creatures - bureaucrats, tourists, guards, even an angel! She must dodge chases, endure mockery, and walk countless miles to reach her goal. Once she realizes that her inner world is an abominable, at times hostile, place, she must find a way to escape herself in one piece.
Irene Pujadas (Sant Just Desvern, 1990) lives in Barcelona. She has worked for several media outlets & magazines like Ara, La Lectora or La Llança, and has participated in anthologies like EL GRAN LIBRO DE LOS PÁJAROS (Blackie Books, 2023), ELLES TAMBÉ NEGREGEN (Llibres del Delicte, 2023), EL MEU PRIMER LLIBRE PORNO (Males Herbes, 2024) or Carn de Cap Magazine. In 2017, she co-founded BRANCA, a very hip literary and multidisciplinar magazine, and currently works at Angle Editorial. In 2020, she won the Documenta Prize with ELS DESPERFECTES (L'Altra, 2021), a short-story collection, that also received the City of Barcelona Award and was highly praised by both readers and critics.
