LAZARUS TWO: LIFT

Michael Lark Greg Rucka

Issues 5-9

Collecting the second arc of five issues of the Eisner-winning team of Rucka and Lark's critically ac- claimed new series about Forever Carlyle , the Lazarus of the Carlyle Family. In a dystopian near- future, government is a quaint concept, resources are coveted, and possession is 100% of the law. A handful of Families rule, jealously guarding what they have and exploiting the Waste—the lowest- class—who struggle to survive in their domains.
Forever defends her family's holdings through deception and force as their protector, their Lazarus. Shot dead defending the family home, Forever's life goes downhill from there...while Forever keeps watch on her sister Johanna, she finds hints of rebellion brewing in LA. At the same time, the Barrets, a family of Waste, lose their home and land, and must pursue their on- ly chance for a better life—a 500-mile journey to Denver in the hope that one of their family will be noticed by the Carlyles and "lifted" to Serf status. Greg Rucka is the new York Times-bestselling author of Alpha and the forthcoming Bravo, Keeper (nominated for a Shamus Award by the Private Eye Writers of America), Finder, Smoker, and Shooting at Midnight, Greg Rucka has been writing since he was eight years old, and hopefully is improving with age. A longtime comics fan, his first graphic novel series was the suspense thriller Whiteout, published by Oni Press and nominated for three Eisner Awards in 1999. Since that time he has been a contributing writer for DC Comics and an active participant in the Batman series of titles. Born and raised in California, he earned his undergraduate degree at Vassar College and his MFA at the Uni- versity of Southern California. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon. Michael Lark has provided pencils for DC Comics' Batman, Terminal City, Gotham Central and Legend of the Hawkman. His work for Marvel Comics includes The Pulse and Captain America.
