LITTLE OWL'S DAY

Divya Srinivasan

An enchanting follow-up to Little Owl's Night. The forest becomes a whole new place during daylight
The sun is shining, the birds are trilling, and Little Owl is . . . sleeping.
It's daytime and Owls are supposed to be asleep. But Squirrel just won't be quiet and his chattering wakes Little Owl up for his first sight of the sun. It's just too exciting to go back to bed, so Little Owl flies through the forest and meadows that he knows so well. Only now, everything looks so different! Flowers are open, colorful butterflies flit by, and bear is actually awake . . . and shows Little Owl his first ever rainbow.

Finally the sun sets and Little Owl can return the favor; he show Bear the beautiful moon.

Divya Srinivasan is an illustrator and animator living in Austin, Texas. She is also the author-illustrator of Little Owl’s Night and Octopus Alone.

Through carefully controlled application of color washes and linear patterns, Srinivasan conveys the magic of a fantasy world that will delight very young children and their caregivers.

Bold, eye-catching artwork.

Young readers will enjoy following Little Owl on his explorations, and this story, paired with Ashley Wolff’s Baby Bear Sees Blue (S. & S., 2012), can instill in them a sense of wonder at the natural world.

The whisper-soft text is full of poetry, and the art will have preschoolers staring, wondering and dreaming, long after the story is done.
