Muesli is a popular breakfast cereal based on uncooked rolled oats, fruit and nuts. It was developed around 1900 by the Swiss physician Maximilian Bircher-Benner for patients in his hospital where a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables was an essential part of therapy.

Muesli is offered as a packaged dry form, or it can be made fresh. Packaged muesli is a loose mixture of mainly rolled oats together with various pieces of dried fruits, nuts, and

seeds. The mass-market brands contain large amounts of sugar and whey which give it a far sweeter and richer taste than traditional mueslies. Fresh Muesli is much healthier and

contains either dry rolled oats or whole grain oats that have been soaked in water or fruit

juice. Other ingredients commonly included are additional grated or chopped fresh or dried

fruit, milk products, fruit juices, ground nuts, seeds, spices and honey.

When www.mymuesli.de went online in 2007 they did not expect the tremendous response

they received from all over Germany. Their idea of providing organic muesli ingredients to a large audience became an overnight bestseller and is now well-established on the German market. Everybody can mix their own individual muesli by picking from over 75 differen tingredients. However, it is almost just as easy to create your own muesli at home by using one of the 40 different recipes provided in this unique book. Most of the recipes can be easily prepared by using ingredients from your local supermarket – a very tasty alternative not only at breakfast but at almost any time of the day!

By the way: In 2008 mymuesli started to sell muesli in the UK, too. Please check their website at http://uk.mymuesli.com.

So far they also entered the Dutch

market (http://nl.mymuesli.com)....
