OH ALBERT!
Oh Albert, how could you? was inspired by a newspaper article of the same name about a boxer with a penchant for destroying his owner's home and belongings (resulting in bills of over $40,000!).
Following a week in the life of a busy family, the story as much a celebration of contemporary domestic life as it is the story of a greedy but loveable family pet. Many children will recognise the rhythms of their own families in the busy chaos of this household's routine, where the days of the week correspond to extracurricular activities.
At its heart, this is the story of the strong bond of love that children share with animals, and the unifying role that pets play in family life.
About the Author:
Davina Bell is the author of the Alice books in the Our Australian Girl series, which follow the story of a young ballerina growing up in WA in World War One. She worked at Penguin for six years as an Editor and Senior Editor in the Young Readers Division, where she was lucky enough to collaborate with some of Australia's most talented creators of books for children. Davina now lives in the Margaret River region of WA's south-west, where she writes full time on the edge of a vineyard.
About the Illustrator:
Sara Acton is an award-winning author and illustrator. Sara grew up in the Cotswolds in England and always loved drawing, especially people and other strange creatures. She studied BA Hons Fine Art and trained as an Art Teacher in London. After teaching and practicing art in England and New Zealand Sara moved with her family to Australia. Sara now lives in a small seaside village, near Sydney, where she enjoys writing and illustrating for children in her studio, whilst drinking tea and eating far too many biscuits.
