PARIS IN LOVE
Charming memoir of one woman’s joyful year in which she literally leaves her worries behind and escapes with her husband and children to one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
In the spirit of Under the Tuscan Sun, PARIS IN LOVE chronicles one joyful year in which the author literally leaves her worries behind and escapes with her husband and children to one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Fresh on the heels of surviving a bout with cancer and losing her mother, Mary Bly (a.k.a. bestselling romance writer Eloisa James) sold her house, took a sabbatical from her university job and moved her family to Paris. With no classes to teach, no committee meetings to attend, no lawn to mow or cars to park, Mary is free to focus on the ordinary pleasures of life cooking, playing, squabbling as a family albeit, in a most extraordinary locale. PARIS IN LOVE will be written as a series of illuminating, entertaining and heartwarming vignettes, based on the author's immensely popular tweets and Facebook updates (and penned by Mary Bly's alter-ego Eloisa James). Eloisa James readers have been dedicatedly following the exploits and foibles of the expat family in Paris for months now, and they have been touched, inspired and transported by her passionate love for the city itself. PARIS IN LOVE will expand on Eloisa's updates and will link them together in a poignant and charming narrative. The vignettes will also be accompanied by pen-and-ink drawings by noted illustrator, Patrick Long (see below!). You can get a further taste of Eloisa's travel posts at www.facebook.com/EloisaJamesFans.
Eloisa James is a critically acclaimed New York Times bestselling author of historical romances. After graduating from Harvard University, Eloisa got an M.Phil. from Oxford University, a Ph.D. from Yale and eventually became a Shakespeare professor, publishing an academic book with Oxford University Press. Currently she is an associate professor and head of the Creative Writing program at Fordham University. She previously wrote a travel memoir about Florence for More magazine. The Christmas essay in PARIS IN LOVE first appeared on Amy Ephron's popular blog, One for the Table.
