Photographic Multishot Techniques

Photos are limited in what they can reproduce. A photographic image can only show some of the dynamic range, angle of view, resolution, and depth of field that the human eye perceives.

One of the most effective ways to work around these limitations is to capture multiple, differently exposed images of a subject and merge them into a single, high-end image. And that is what this book is all about.

Multishot techniques can be used to improve any or all of the factors listed above, and can also be used to reduce overall image noise.

In this book, Jürgen and Rainer Gulbins show you how to use Photoshop, Lightroom, and various HDR, panorama and stacking applications to produce effective multishot images. They also go into detail on the required shooting techniques and stitching tools. The final chapter talks about post-processing and how to give your images a final polish using techniques such as increasing local contrast, dodging and burning, global/selective sharpening, and luminance masks.

The book assumes that you have some basic knowledge of digital photography and that your camera allows you to make manual exposure settings.
