This book offers a range of microservices “recipes” that software architects can combine to make a complete microservices menu, thus enabling you to implement microsevices according to the individual needs of each project.

Eberhard Wolff begins by introducing microservices, self-contained systems, micro- and macro-architecture, and migration to microservices. He then details microservices recipes for using base technologies such as Docker and PaaS, and front-end integration using links, JavaScript and ESI (Edge Side Includes). He also discusses implementing asynchronous microservices using Apache Kafka and Atom/REST, and synchronous approaches based on Consul, Kubernetes, and REST in the Netflix stack.

Each recipe includes notes on potential variations and combinations. Wolff also discusses getting started for microservices beginners and how to run finished microservices.
