Quit when you want, but maybe there’s no need

RICCARDO POZZOLI

21 days to master social media without ruining your life

A social media tour with the seven deadly sins The structure of the book takes its inspiration from an article by Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, published in 2011 in The Wall Street Journal. In the article Hoffman maintained that social media were destined to be successful because they reflected and bolstered the seven deadly sins. Thus the idea of dealing with some social media habits, some good, some not so good, tracing them back to the seven deadly sins. And then, because according to neuroscientists it takes just twenty-one days to eliminate a bad habit and replace it with a good one, the book is subdivided into twenty-one days. Each day is dedicated to a specific element of behaviour or aspect, putting forward reflections, observations and suggesting some possible ways out.

Today the world of social media is a bit of a Far West, a place where anyone can do whatever they want. The biggest problem is that social media are more powerful than they seem, so the consequences of every action are enormously amplified. Riccardo Pozzoli has been using social media for some twenty years, ever since they first appeared. He uses them for personal communication and for his social life and for work. Riccardo is also an influencer, in charge of communications for the companies he has founded.

All this means he’s in a good position to reflect continuously on social media, on

their evolution, their benefits and their limits, and to talk about them. His writing, therefore, is based on his personal experience and he can give a more critical view of the phenomenon, more detached and wide-ranging, compared to digital natives. For these reasons he’s sure that his generation, precisely because of these characteristics, bears more responsibility than others in reflecting on a balanced use of social media.
