RECIPE FOR A HAPPY LIFE
In the tradition of HOW TO MAKE AN AMERICAN QUILT and THE DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD, RECIPE FOR A HAPPY LIFE is the story of a tribe of women with a culture all their own.
Hannah Goodman's mother, Gray, is an internationally recognized photojournalist, with little time for the banalities of caring for a small child, so she's mostly raised by her grandmother—a grand dame equally well known for her charm, as for the fact that she's been married more times than Elizabeth Taylor. In spite of her grandmother's great wealth, Gray is determined that her daughter resist the siren song of the trust fund set, and make her own way in the world, becoming a lawyer in New York City. But when the carefully constructed pieces of Hannah's life start breaking apart one hot June day, she seeks solace at her Grandmother's Hampton's estate, and over the course of one memorable summer she learns that there's more than one recipe for perfection.
