RED AIR
Zero Dark Thirty meets Black Hawk Down in this fast-paced, cerebral military thriller
When journalist Danny Morris is emailed a graphic video of torture perpetrated by Azmaray Shah, he knows the victim can only be one man: CIA operative Al Morris, his father. Seeking vengeance for the capture of his son by the Afghan government, Shah is steadily leaking footage on social media sites, coaxing Danny whose article Shah believes to have led directly to the capture of his son, Turan to Afghanistan to write their real story' and negotiate the release of Turan.
Accompanied by two CIA operatives and a squad of Marines, Danny must cross hostile Taliban territory to meet with Shah; but it's not long before things fall apart, and a vicious dust storm red air descends on the group. They are without communications, without air-support, and time is running out for Al as a young American-turned-Jihadi is given shelter by Shah. In the heat of the desert, tensions run high, alliances flow freely and the enemy of your enemy might just be your greatest confederate.
Hamilton Wende is a US-born journalist based in South Africa. He is a seasoned war correspondent who has covered some 20 different conflicts around the globe all over Africa, the Middle East, Iraq and Afghanistan. Most recently he was the on-the-ground story producer in 2012 for a five part series on the US Marines' last major fighting season of the Afghan War known as BATTLEGROUND AFGHANISTAN in the US and BATTLEGROUND BROTHERS on the international market.
