REQUIEM FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM is not an essay collection but a cohesive work based on four years of interviews with Chomsky by the editors. Chomsky considers these to be his final, long-form documentary interviews. The book is a companion to the documentary movie first shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2015.
The book makes Chomsky's breadth and depth accessible, and at the same gives us his most powerful political ideas with unprecedented, breathtaking directness. Noam Chomsky is widely regarded as the most influential thinker of our time. He studied linguistics, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1955 he received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. Chomsky has taught at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is currently Institute Professor (Emeritus) in the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy, for the past 50 years. His work is widely credited with having revolutionized the field of modern linguistics. Chomsky is the author of numerous best-selling political works, which have been translated into scores of languages worldwide.
