SEX, HEALTH, AND CONSCIOUSNESS
A Guidebook for Enlightened Sex Education
What do you really know about sex? Author, filmmaker, and artist Liz Goldwyn guesses that the majority of people would answer... Not that much.
From her days interning at Planned Parenthood as a thirteen-year-old to her time writing and filming about her experiences with burlesque, Liz learned there is a disturbing amount of misinformationand miseducationaround sex. Frustrated by this lack of transparency, she knew there needed to be centralized place to find all the latest (and accurate) information about sex communicated in a mindful, approachable way. And that she had to be the person to create it.
Since 2018, her podcast and platform, The Sex Ed, has delivered a welcoming, fun, and inclusive space that offers comprehensive sex education with practical advice, "sexperts," and humor. Now, in The Sex Ed's first book, Liz and her team share the philosophy that
guides their sex education: In order for you to have the best relationship with your sexuality and therefore, the best sex possible, we need to first make sure your mind, body, and consciousness are in alignment.
If that sounds super New Age, don't worry. The Sex Ed's holistic approach takes these concepts and grounds them in scientific research, expert commentary, and personal experiences to create down-to-earth, inclusive content. If Brené Brown were to write a book about sex, it would look something like this.
The Sex Ed is dedicated to inspiring and informing conversations around sexual wellness and reaches its community of 500k+ through its podcast, website, and socials. Past podcast guests range from Nick Kroll and Natasha Lyonne to Dita Von Teese and Asa Akira, and recent features include Vogue Spain, Vogue France, Spanish GQ, NY Mag, and many more. As a measure of coolness, Gucci sponsored their third season. Liz Goldwyn is the author of two books, PRETTY THINGS, which she directed and produced as an HBO documentary, and SPORTING GUIDE.
