SINGLE AND FORCED TO MINGLE

Melissa Croce

A Guide for (Nearly) Any Socially Awkward Situation

This is a humorous guide for Millennial singles full of tongue-in-cheek advice ranging from how to answer family members' wild, unwanted questions to creating a fake partner to surviving wedding season solo.
So, you're single. Whether you're newly so or have been on this solo journey for a while, the fact of the matter is this: being. single. is. awesome. You can do whatever you want, travel wherever you want, and basically just be your truest, most free self. But there are a lot of people out there--your mom, your (married) best friend, Aunt Carol, society-- who might see it differently. To them being single isn't something to aspire to be, it's something to be avoided, and that can make interacting with those people Annoying, to put it mildly. And as much as you might want to, you can't avoid all of those people (or society) forever.

Enter: "Single and Forced to Mingle." Part (semi-serious) guide, part commiseration, and part celebration, "Single and Forced to Mingle" is a humorous look at the life of a single millennial. It includes: giving tips on how to graciously endure the various scenarios in which single people find themselves (awkward small talk with an ex, navigating well-meaning but insensitive relatives at a wedding, etc.), what every newly-single person needs to know, and arguments about why, actually, being single is really freaking awesome.

Melissa Croce is a Pacific Northwest native who left her beloved rainy region to work in children's publishing in New York. When she's not working, she can be found sleeping, reading tarot cards, watching hockey games, and spending way too much time on the internet, which is how this book initially came to be.

Croce debuts with a bright and witty guidebook for living the single life [...] The smart and irreverent advice will be welcomed by readers who love living solo.

The book is full of tips on necessary topics like how to graciously endure small talk with your ex and quizzes to help you figure out how to spend the perfect Saturday night in, as well as an inspiring (and hilarious) list of the patron saints of singledom, both real and fictional. A perfect companion piece for Rebecca Traister's All the Single Ladies.
