SNIPER ELITE: ONE-WAY TRIP
IN DIRECT DEFIANCE of the president’s orders, Navy Master Chief Gil Shannon, one of America’s most lethal SEAL snipers, launches a bold mission comprised of SEAL Team Six and Delta Force fighters to free a captured female helicopter pilot being held by Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan.
When the first woman helicopter pilot of the Navy’s elite SOAR (160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment) is captured in an ambush during a training mission in Afghanistan, her Special Forces compatriots step in to stage a daring rescue. The lives of Master Chief Gil Shannon, one of the Navy Seals most lethal snipers, and Sandra Brux, the captured pilot, collide as Shannon plans for her rescue, while Sandra struggles to maintain her dignity and humanity. When a video of her brutal treatment appears before America’s top military and political officials, the incident erupts into a situation that warrants direct involvement from the president and the nation best intelligence resources. SNIPER ELITE is filled with pulse-pounding combat, sharp dialogue, and a story that will pin you to the edge of your seat until the last page. This fast-paced, action-packed thriller with incredibly realistic and blistering battles introduces a new American hero, Gil Shannon, whose iron will and expertise with the .308 Remington Modular sniper rifle will spell the difference between freedom and an ignoble death for America’s female POW.
INSPIRED BY TRUE EVENTS: McEwen now sets his sights on fiction with SNIPER ELITE, a novel based on extensive interviews with both active and retired U.S. Navy Seals. This is certainly a story where you can tell the good guys from the bad guys, but it is also one that highlights the friction between the soldiers on the ground, the intelligence officers at home, and the political figures running the show. It offers readers a gripping narrative while forcing them to question how our government handles these kinds of kidnapping situations.
Scott McEwen is a trial attorney in San Diego, California, and has taught at Thomas Jefferson School of Law. He obtained his undergraduate degree at Oregon State University and thereafter studied and worked extensively in London. Scott works with and provides support for several military charitable organizations, including the Seal Team Foundation.
Thomas Kolonair is the author of the post-apocalyptic novel Cannibal Reign. A former police officer from Akron, Ohio, he currently lives in Mexico.
