SOMETHING DANGEROUS IS COMING

The village of Geukdong-ri (meaning “farthest east”) is exactly that: a dying town in the middle of nowhere. Until a biotech company, BioGenesis, comes to build a new power plant. As trees are cut down, the landscape of red-earth desolation bears a striking resemblance to Mars, attracting film crews of a new sci-fi movie, BATTLE OF MARS. With economy booming, weird things start to happen: an old man commits public suicide by drilling his own head; people disappear randomly; elder villagers gather in town for strange rituals, holding hands and smiling beatifically as smoke comes out of their heads. There are also rumors of deadly pollution and human experiments, all which BioGenesis denies vehemently. When a young journalist digs into the past of Geukdong-ri, she uncovers a conspiracy beyond our imagination, one that threatens her own sanity.
