SONG OF A THOUSAND SEAS
Houdini is a Day Octopus (Octopus cyanea). She has nine brains, eight arms, three hearts, zero bones, 3'154 suckers and is a master of disguise. She likes to hide, to hunt, to steal, to explore, and she dreams of being Home in the Wild Sea.
Houdini is sick of the waves of people who come every day to gawk at her aquarium tank, and wants them all to GO AWAY! But then her keeper brings a young one who is different. Whose busy brain buzzes with so many thoughts, too wild to settle and be. Whose words sink deep into Houdini's skin.
When the Sea's singing turns to howling, a calling too strong to resist, Houdini must plan her escape. But she can't get there on her own. Can the young one help her get Home?
A lyrical and experimental verse novel by the author of the multi-award-winning Bone Sparrow and The Way of Dog.
