THE 11:11 WISH
Wishes, dares, and magic abound in this heartfelt and entertaining middle-grade novel about a girl who wishes on a magical clock to fit into her new school only to learn that every wish comes with its own hilarious consequences. Perfect for fans of Sarah Mylnowski and Wendy Mass.
Twelve-year-old Megan Meyers cannot wait to reinvent herself at her new school. Goodbye math nerd, hello girl with friends! Yes, that is friends. Plural. But when Megan is dared to make something exciting happen by the end of her very first day, she is thrown into the middle of a longstanding feud. Not even Google can help her now!
So, with nothing to lose as her classroom's cat clock chimes 11:11, Megan wishes for it to snow. Yes, it is Arizona. Yes, it is scientifically impossible. And yes, it comes true! But each new wish has its own magical side effects. And as she finds herself coughing up hairballs and attracting felines like a walking ball of catnip-infused yarn, Megan begins to realize that magic might not be the purrfect key to her fresh start after all.
Filled with fun dares, clever magic, and hilariously catastrophic consequences, The 11:11 Wish is Kim Tomsic's heartfelt and whimsical middle grade debut.
Kim Tomsic is a Co-Regional Advisor for the Rocky Mountain Colorado branch of SCBWI and a newcomer to middle-grade fiction. Her debut nonfiction picture book, The Elephants Came, a biography about Lawrence Anthony and his wildlife sanctuary in South Africa will be published by Chronicle in spring, 2017. Her second picture book, Guitar Hero: The Story of Les Paul will publish with Chronicle in spring 2019. She is addicted to peanut butter M&Ms.
