THE ACTOR'S MINDSET
Acting as a Craft, Discipline, and Business
A fresh and contemporary handbook for actors by lauded Los Angeles acting coach, Craig Archibald.
The Actor's Mindset presents a holistic view of the actor's journey, which Archibald has divided into three distinct phases: Craft, Discipline, and Business.
In Part 1, Craft, Archibald's method is another branch from Stanislavski's tree, growing and building upon existing theory and technique. Here, Archibald takes an innovative approach by applying his own experience as a working actor to the famed "Questions" method that Stanislavski pioneered to help actors interrogate themselves and their character. Archibald's "Twenty Questions" call upon his years of experience and mentorship, and reflect the questions he has to ask himself as an actor, and those that have been most effective for his clients.
Part 2, Discipline elevates these building blocks of acting, asking actors how to apply these tools and practices to work as professional actors -- not only addressing their skillset, but the proper mindset, to maintain their integrity in an industry often driven by ego, fame, and fortune.
Finally, Part 3, Business, offers the unique insights that come from Archibald's decades of experience, pulling back the curtain on the industry and imparting the business savvy required for actors to succeed.
Craig Archibald is the founder of The Archibald Studio in Los Angeles, where he coaches actors, writers, and directors. His clients include Constance Wu, John Slattery, and Dan Futterman, among others. He has guided his clients to wins and nominations for numerous awards, including the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, Oscars, and Emmys. He is an actor himself and appeared as Christopher Isherwood in the Academy Award-winning film Capote. He is also a playwright, screenwriter, and short film producer.
