THE ADVENTURES OF DARIUS LOGAN
Justice Force
The first YA novel by superstar comic book writer and graphic novelist David F. Walker.
A genre-bending, rule-upending ride through the science fiction genre, Darius Logan tells the story of an orphaned Black teenager navigating foster homes in a futuristic landscape. To survive, Darius falls in with a bad crowd and finds himself the target of the police. To avoid a long prison sentence, he is offered the opportunity to join the Justice Force, a group of young men and women with special powers who strive to do good, but are not as perfect as they seem. Darius soon finds out he is destined to have his own powers, and he'll need them in a deadly battle that will change him forever.
Part coming of age, part action-packed adventure, part social justice allegory, part love story, Darius Logan delivers a new hero for young adult readers they will not soon forget.
David F. Walker is the Eisner and Ringo Award-winning writer of the original Bitter Root comic series (Image) and the Naomi series (DC). He has also written extensively for Marvel (Luke Cage, Occupy Avengers, Power Man and Iron Fist, Nighthawk, Fury, Deadpool) as well as Cyborg and Young Justice for DC, Shaft for Dynamite, Planet of the Apes for Boom, and Number 13 for Dark Horse, among many other comic book series and publishers. He is the author of the acclaimed graphic novels The Life of Frederick Douglass and The Black Panther Party, as well as the upcoming Black Film history of Black moviemaking in America and Big Jim and the White Boy, a retelling of Huckleberry Finn from the perspective of the slave boy, Jim (all Ten Speed Press/PRH). His Bitter Root series is currently in development as a feature film with Legendary Entertainment with Ryan Coogler producing and Regina King directing. Naomi will be a TV series debuting this fall on the CW, written and executive produced by Ava DuVernay. Darius Logan will be his debut YA novel.
