Full of tension, twists and turns, THE LIFE WE BURY is the story of Joe Talbert, a college student who receives a class assignment to write a biography of someone who has lived an interesting life. With a deadline looming, Joe heads to a nearby nursing home to find a willing subject. There he meets Carl Iverson, a man dying of cancer who has been medically paroled after spending 30 years in prison for the murder of a 14-year-old girl. As Joe writes about Carl's life, he cannot reconcile the heroism of the younger man with the despicable acts of the convict. Joe, along with his skeptical female neighbor, sets out to uncover the truth but is hamstrung in his efforts by having to deal with his dysfunctional mother, the guilt of leaving his autistic brother vulnerable and a haunting childhood memory. Thread by thread, Joe unravels the tapestry of Carl's conviction. But as he and Lila dig deeper into the circumstances of the crime, the stakes grow higher. Will Joe discover the truth before it's too late to escape the fallout?
