Beautiful romantic dramedy with a touch of magic by debut author Kate Robb.
Gemma Wilde is trying to shake the lingering heartbreak since her long-term safe, easy, predictable boyfriend, Stuart, dumped her. Her crazy aunt offers her the chance to un-do the night she met Stuart and said yes to a date. Sure, why not try it, she said after a few margaritas, so they follow the spell, complete with an absolutely platonic kiss from best friend Dax to seal the deal.
And when Gemma wakes the next morning, lo' and behold, she finds herself living a life where Stuart never happened but in this alternate life, she's lost her best friend, Dax who has no idea who she is. To return home, Gemma must convince him to become best friends with her before the next full moon. But as she settles in to life in this alternate world, she finds that this Gemma is brave and is willing to take chances to follow her dreams.
She also finds that maybe her feelings for Dax aren't so platonic after all, but time is quickly running out, and Gemma needs to decide if she even wants to return to her old life, or if a romantic relationship with Dax and a dream career are worth some major sacrifices.
With the success of authors like Rebecca Serle and the emergence of witchy-type romcoms, there is a growing interest in stories that use extraordinary circumstances or light-touch of magic to explore emotionally resonant questions.
