At first it is all fun and games and parties and meeting interesting people. But there are rules governing all the behaviors of marriage from answering a spouse’s text right away, to how often one eats dinner together, to gifts and vacations. And there are punishments meted out whenever these rules are broken. The couple is drawn deeper and deeper into a situation from which they cannot extricate themselves.
