THE MOST AMAZING THING

Matt Shanks Ian Hayward Robinson

A story about wonder and hope that explores the meaning of life from the bestselling illustrator of Rosie the Rhinoceros and the President Emeritus of the Rationalist Society of Australia.
'What is the most amazing thing? asked Henry. 'Life' said his sister. 'The mind,' said his brother. 'The stars,' said his father. Henry can see these things are amazing, but are they the MOST amazing thing? What makes something amazing? The Most Amazing Thing shows that while the world is full of wonders, the search for meaning is an individual quest. Ian Robinson is President Emeritus and immediate past Chairman of the Rationalist Association of Australia. He has taught at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels and was Editor of The Australian Rationalist for a number of years. He has been head of the Professional Writing and Editing diploma course at the Chisholm Institute, President of the Melbourne Writers Theatre and has served on the Victorian committee of the Australian Writers Guild. He has been a tutor in Philosophy at the University of Melbourne and taught Philosophy of Education at Coburg Teachers College. Matt Shanks's early fascination for the combination of words and pictures saw him complete a Bachelor of Design at the University of Sydney in 2003. It took him 10 years though, while working as a Creative Director at some of Melbourne's best design agencies, to realise that this 'watercolour hobby' of his needed to be shared with more than just his wife and cat. Matt has now illustrated several picture books and lives in Melbourne.
