THE ROYAL LACEMAKER

Linda Finlay

A Queen and a peasant - this stunning new saga is the story of a young woman who must find a way to support her family and stay true to herself in the face of adversity.
At just seventeen, Lily Rose's lace making skills are discovered by Jane Bodney, a Devonshire lace trader who has won the secret commission for Queen Victoria's wedding dress. As Lily finds herself mixing with the upper echelons of Society, her principles and love for her betrothed fisherman are challenged, especially when she is pursued by Mrs Bodney's most valued merchant. Despite the death of her mother, a dramatic family revelation and the scheming of the local squire, Lily still manages to accomplish the tasks she has been set without compromising her values. LINDA FINLAY is an Image Consultant with an avid interest in people and the clothes they wear. She has had short stories published in women's magazines but it was a move to the spectacular Devon coast with its wealth of local history that inspired her to write her first novel ‘Lily The Lace Maker'. As part of her research, she learned to make the delicate pillow lace.
