Mariel had always expected to be happy on the island of Amlon. Surrounded by pearl-white beaches and the turquoise sea, what else could she possibly need? But deep-down Mariel feels that she does not belong. While her friends enjoy life in paradise, she feels drawn to anything that is less than perfect. Like her beloved shells with their cracks, and Sander, the boy who gives her the first kiss.
