Ann Hood

A new novel by the beloved author of numerous novels including THE KNITTING CIRCLE and memoirs most recently, KITCHEN YARNS: Notes on Life, Love and Food.
During WW I, Nick Burns is forced to make a decision that haunts him for the rest of his life. When he gets a terrible diagnosis 50 years later, he decides that it is time to find out the consequences of that decision and make it right if he can. He hires 20-year-old Jenny, a college dropout whose own decisions have left her stuck in her small hometown, to accompany him to France and help him solve the mystery. Their journey leads them ultimately to The Museum of Tears in Naples, Italy, and to a lost love story that helps them both let go of their pasts and face their futures.

An unlikely duo ventures through France and Italy to solve the mystery of a child's fate in this moving, page-turning novel from "a gifted storyteller"

Vividly peopled, intricately plotted, and gorgeously written, THE STOLEN CHILD is one of those all-consuming and big-hearted novels that explores what it means to be human - how to love, accept loss, transcend failures, and become the person you are meant to be. Reading Ann Hood is like setting out on an adventure with a wise and trusted friend ... you never want it to end.

A well-crafted, fast-paced story about how a single encounter can shape a person's whole life. Of particular note are Hood's detailed descriptions of the different historical settings (Paris, small-town France, Rome, Tuscany, Naples), which feel rooted in research and heighten the authenticity of the narrative.
