THE TINY HERO OF FERNY CREEK LIBRARY
Victoria Jamieson Linda Bailey
Eddie, a passionate reader and shiny green bug, saves the school library in THE TINY HERO OF FERNY CREEK LIBRARY. This funny, heartwarming tale for fans of ESCAPE FROM MR. LEMONCELLO’S LIBRARY and FLORA & ULYSSES. Includes black-and-white illustrations throughout from Newbery Honor Medalist and New York Times bestseller Victoria Jamieson.
Eddie has never traveled beyond the crack in the chalkboard in Mr. Wang’s fourth-grade classroom, where he lives with his parents, his 53 younger brothers and sisters, and his aunt Min. But when Aunt Min goes on an adventure to the school library and doesn’t return, Eddie leaves the comfort of his home and begins a long, dangerous trek. Along the way, Eddie dodges running sneakers, barely avoids getting smashed by a copy of WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, and almost gets eaten by a spider!
Finally¸ he makes it to the library, where he finds Aunt Min stuck on a tall shelf, with two broken legs! And to make a bad situation worse, the regular librarian is out on maternity leave and the substitute, Ms. Visch, has terrible plans to get rid of the library altogether and turn it into a local testing center. No more books at all!
Inspired by the spider in CHARLOTTE’S WEB, Eddie comes up with a great idea; he can use juice from a blueberry to write a note to the librarian. Writing one note a night, Eddie’s message to Ms. Visch is bold—PLEASE SAVE THE LIBRARY! Will this be enough to save the Ferny Creek library?
NUTS TO YOU meets ESCAPE FROM MR. LEMONCELLO’S LIBRARY in this clever story about one bug finding the courage to be true to himself.
