In 1963, the pop art king Andy Warhol took a road trip from New York to LA through a country in the midst of dramatic cultural change and an artist on the brink of stardom. Through this episode we witness many of the things that made him in icon in an era like no other. This was his first time in LA and he was welcomed like a hero by its art scene, by people like Dennis Hopper who became a life-long friend, as well as Peter Fonda, Marcel Duchamp, Elizabeth Taylor, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and other luminaries from the worlds of movies and art. He blended in perfectly and solidified his image as a visionary for a time in which people began to look at art in an entirely different way and many old perceptions of what art was became upended.
