THE VERY SECRET SOCIETY OF IRREGULAR WITCHES

Sangu Mandanna

Sangu Mandanna's debut adult contemporary fantasy - full of heart, mystery and magic, it's a story that thoughtfully explores sisterhood, family, and how one might find it in the most unlikely of places.
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to keep her head down, stay away from other witches, and keep every single spatter and stipple of magic she wields a secret. And she's very good at it, at least for the most part. Her only rebellion - a teeny, tiny rebellion - is her online account, where she posts videos pretending to be a witch, which she believes to be a very clever double bluff in her own opinion.

Unexpectedly, a mysterious message arrives in Mika's inbox, begging her to travel to the isolated Nowhere House on the cold, windy Norfolk coast to teach three young and dangerously out of control witches how to control their magic. It breaks all of the rules, but Mika goes anyway, and is immediately tangled up in the lives and secrets of an absent archaeologist, a retired actor, two long-suffering caretakers, and one very handsome but prickly librarian in addition to the three unruly children she's been enlisted to help.

But when Mika begins to grow accustomed to her new life, a very real threat comes knocking at the front door, one that could expose the existence of witches, putting Mika and others like her in danger. She's then left with a difficult choice. Should she follow the rules and save herself? Or should she risk everything for the oddball inhabitants of Nowhere House? The people who just might be the family she didn't even know she needs.

When she isn't busy writing novels, she enjoys working in the graphic art industry, writing game scripts, and spending time with her husband and three children.

The New York Times selected for THE VERY SECRET SOCIETY OF IRREGULAR WITCHES as one of their best romances of 2022: "It's been a very good year for paranormal romance, and one reason is Sangu Mandanna's THE VERY SECRET SOCIETY OF IRREGULAR WITCHES, an effervescent stunner about a lonely modern witch hired to teach three troublesome younger witches at an idyllic country house with gardens full of secrets. My favorite bits all come at the end, and I refuse to spoil them, but the joyous shock of this book's finale has lingered since summer." Read more...
